WHAT IS THE EXILIS PROCEDURE
During the session, the Exilis computer-controlled device is guided over the treatment area. Patients feel a warming sensation as the Energy is delivered to the layers of skin.
Throughout the Exilis treatment, the machine uses controlled and focussed radiofrequency to gradually heat the skin to a target temperature of 42 degrees and keep it there for a specified period of time. This heating has a twofold effect of winding up the loose collagen and also stimulating the fibroblast cells into producing more collagen thereby stimulating and strengthening the collagen network to improve skin laxity and texture.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED, HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
The recommended course of treatment is generally two to three sessions, one to two weeks apart. You can have additional treatments if desired. Patients will require a top up treatment 2 years after the last treatment to maintain results.
IS IT SAFE?
Exilis has been tested in clinical studies and proven to be safe and effective. It has been cleared by the FDA in the U.S. for use in dermatologic and aesthetic procedures with indications for non-invasive treatment of laxity and rhytids. Radiofrequency and ultrasound have been used for many years in aesthetic medicine and been proven very safe in this time.
WHAT ABOUT RECOVERY?
Some pinkness on the treated area may last for about 15-30 minutes.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
There have been no significant side effects reported with Exilis treatment.
